Keen Canines believes in a strong bond and relationship between human and companion animal being built on trust and clear communication. Dog training is meant to be fun on both ends of the leash, which is why we use coercion-free, science-based methods.
Benefits of coercion-free, science-based methods:
- Founded in the scientific principles of animal learning theory.
- Sets your dog up for success in learning-friendly environments.
- Undesirable behaviors are reduced/eliminated with safe and humane methods such as by reward-removal and reinforcing an incompatible behavior.
- Your dog's environment—as well as his physical and emotional health—are taken into account.
- Provides your dog with well-timed feedback about his behavior. Many things that your dog may need and want on a daily basis (e.g., food, play, toys, walks, access to valued resources, etc.) can be used to reinforce desired behaviors.
*What we don't do:
Keen Canines does not use physical or psychological intimidation techniques. This means we do not use methods based on force, fear, pain, or intimidation as a way to motivate a dog. We do not use choke chains, prong/pinch collars, shock collars, spray bottles, cans of coins (startle devices), and the like.
